Responsibilities Include

Street Light Outage Reporting

To report a street light outage Contact the Village Administrator at 419-542-8095 or via email at viladmin@defnet.com   Please have the detailed address of pole location and pole number if available  (example: 234B2-54)

Mosquito Spraying

Spraying begins when the temperature consistently stays above 55 degrees. Spraying is done on Monday and Thursday evenings from 9:00 pm. Please remove all containers which could hold water from your property to deter breeding insects.

Leaf Collection

Leaves should be raked to the curb (not in the street) to be swept during October and November. Leaves mixed with yard or tree debris will not be swept.

Snow Removal

Snow removal is hampered by vehicles parked on the street. If at all possible, park in your driveway during snowfall, and be aware of specific areas where parking is prohibited during snow removal times.

Roadway Care

In addition to the services listed the department is responsible for road repairs and maintenance, removal of dead animals from roadways and public land, painting traffic markings, maintenance of Village buildings, installing Christmas decorations, hanging flags downtown, street sweeping, replacing downtown street lights and traffic signal bulbs, cleaning catch basins, hauling chips and grass from the recycle lot, doing all sewer related digs, yard restorations, cement work, minor construction projects, and assisting the water and sewer departments as needed.

The department operates two large snow plow-dump trucks, two F-250 dumps, a backhoe, skid steer, street sweeper, tractor for flail mowing, a tractor with a bucket and blade/grader box, two jet vacs trucks, a leaf vac, and a limb chipper.

Please report anything that might be considered hazardous: a limb in the road, long-term standing water, potholes, dead animals, missing and/or damaged street or traffic signs to the Streets Department at 419-542-8095. Hours of operation are from 7:30 am until 4:00 pm daily. (After hours hazards should be reported to the non-emergency police number 419-542-6661)

Recycle Lot

The Recycle Lot is located at the corner of Elm Street and Meuse Argonne. It is open Tuesday and Thursday from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm and Saturday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
(LOT IS CLOSED JANUARY AND FEBRUARY)

Acceptable item include:

  • Grass clippings
  • weeds
  • brush and limbs
  • There is a dumpster provided for appliances and metal items.

DO NOT LEAVE ANY ITEMS OUTSIDE THE FENCE WHEN THE LOT IS CLOSED. NO FURNITURE, CARPETING OR BUILDING MATERIALS ARE ACCEPTED.

Recycle Trailer

The Recycle Trailer is located in the parking lot across from the Village offices and is available the first Friday of each month from 9 am to 11 am.

Items to recycle include the following:

  • Magazines and Newspapers (flat in paper bags)
  • Pressboard / Cardboard (cut or folded into flat pieces and tied)
  • Plastic Items (rinse, remove rings & caps, may be crushed)
  • Steel Cans (rinse, remove both ends if possible)
  • Aluminum Cans (rinse)
  • NO Glass, Aluminum Foil, or Tin Cans please

Refuse Pick up is Wednesday in the Village.
